Our Story
We create quiet pieces designed to support rest, better sleep, and moments of pause in modern life.
We work with traditional mulberry-bark hanji, a Korean paper known for its strength, breathability, and gentle translucency. When paired with light and touch, hanji softens a space, diffusing harsh brightness into a calmer atmosphere for evening rituals, reflection, and slow living.
Many of our pieces are handmade and one of one, crafted in collaboration with skilled artisans. Each design is made slowly, with restraint and intention, so your home can feel quieter, warmer, and more grounded.
SumHan is founded by Anne and Karl. We’re originally from Melbourne and currently live in Korea, travelling between both countries. Our current focus is serving Australian customers, while welcoming collectors worldwide who are drawn to hanji, quiet design, and intentional living.
